Should I use denture adhesive paste?
A properly fitting new denture should not require adhesive to stay in place, especially the upper denture which creates a natural suction. Adhesives can be used for extra confidence, but if you rely on them heavily to eat, your denture needs to be relined or replaced.
Can I bleach my dentures to make them whiter?
No, never use household bleach or whitening toothpastes on your dentures. Bleach will severely weaken the acrylic structure and instantly turn the pink gum portion stark white, ruining the appliance completely.
What is an immediate denture?
An immediate denture is fabricated before your remaining failing teeth are extracted and is inserted immediately after surgery. This ensures you never have to go without teeth while your gums heal, though it will require a reline a few months later as the swelling goes down. Why does my lower denture always feel loose?
The lower jaw has significantly less bone surface area than the upper jaw, and the constant movement of the tongue constantly dislodges the lower denture. This is why lower implant-supported dentures are highly recommended as the standard of care.
How do I clean and care for my dentures?
Remove your dentures after every meal and rinse them under running water. Brush them daily with a soft denture brush and a non-abrasive cleanser — regular toothpaste is too harsh.
